University of Florida secures land and capital support for campus in Jacksonville

The University of Florida today announced a major step forward for its planned campus in downtown Jacksonville, following a unanimous vote by the Jacksonville City Council to approve both the transfer of more than 20 acres of land in LaVilla to UF and an additional $50 million in funding to support campus construction. The council’s decision marks a historic public investment in higher education, research and economic growth in Northeast Florida and reaffirms Jacksonville’s commitment to becoming a national hub for talent and innovation.

With $80 million in combined funding and plans for a state-of-the-art Advanced Technology Center, FSI is set to drive transformative research, support the state’s growing tech economy, and help train the next generation of high-wage talent.

UF moves forward with site for new campus in Jacksonville

The University of Florida is one step closer to establishing a transformative new campus in Jacksonville. This week, the UF Board of Trustees’ Governance Committee approved a recommendation to select the area surrounding the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center as the site for the future campus. Located in the heart of downtown and near key corporate and community assets, the site is poised to support cutting-edge academic programs, groundbreaking research, and workforce development in one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities.
